Day 1: September 11

Welcome back to Harvard Square, where it all began 25 years ago!

After you arrive and settle in at the Charles Hotel, spend the afternoon as you wish—explore Harvard Square, visit iconic bookstores, browse unique shops, or enjoy a relaxed lunch in a favorite spot.

EVENING

Reconnect with old friends over a welcome dinner at Bar Enza in the Charles Hotel. Michelin-starred chef Mark Ladner has crafted a menu that highlights New England’s finest local ingredients and select imported Italian specialties.

Day 2: September 12

MORNING

Insights & Exploration: Morning Talks and Museum Tour

Enjoy breakfast on your own at the Charles Hotel or another Harvard Square favorite of your choice.

Then we’ll head to Kendall Square, MIT’s vibrant tech hub, to hear from two speakers on topics of interest to our group, hosted at the MIT Museum.

First, we’ll hear from our OPM professor John A. Davis, now a Senior Lecturer in Family Enterprise at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Enjoy a catered coffee as he discusses family enterprises, selling businesses, future planning, and other topics of interest to our group.

Take a break between talks by exploring the MIT Museum’s exhibits on your own or join a guided tour on topics like AI, gene editing, or “MIT Collects.” This innovative museum showcases MIT’s pioneering research through interactive displays, revealing the latest in science, technology, and art.

Regroup and hear next from Erik Vogan, Executive Director of the MIT Quest for Intelligence, who will speak to us about artificial intelligence and its potential to reshape industries. Erik will dive into the mysteries of human and machine intelligence, followed by a Q&A session. A catered lunch will follow.

Option 1: Return to Harvard Square & Visit Harvard’s Museums

Harvard Art Museums: 
A world-class collection of art spanning centuries, housed in three iconic galleries on Harvard’s historic campus.

Harvard Museum of Natural History: A fascinating natural history museum featuring rare minerals, fossils, and the famous Glass Flowers exhibit.

Peabody Museum: Harvard’s renowned museum of archaeology and ethnology, showcasing Native American artifacts and global cultural history.

Option 2: Explore Boston’s Beacon Hill & Back Bay

Visit the antique shops along Beacon Hill’s charming Charles Street.

Stroll amid the natural beauty of the Boston Public Gardens,

Shop along Newbury Street with the guidance of local expert Carey Cort, uncovering hidden gems and boutiques.

Return to the Charles Hotel in the late afternoon.

EVENING

Celebratory dinner:

Travel together to the Harvard Club in Boston’s Back Bay. Enjoy dinner in this historic private club, where each alum has a chance to share personal reflections and updates at the mic.

After a day filled with learning, adventure, and camaraderie, return to the Charles Hotel to rest up for what’s next.

Day 3: September 13

MORNING

Discover the revolutionary history of New England & the natural beauty of where it all started

Following breakfast on your own, we’ll set off in mini-coaches for Walden Pond in Concord.

This serene pond, immortalized by Henry David Thoreau’s “Walden”, reflects his ideals of simplicity and connection with nature.

Meet with a park ranger and watch a short video by Ken Burns about Walden Pond before taking a guided tour.

Richard Smith—a Naturalist Guide and Thoreau expert—will lead us on a walking tour, sharing insights into Thoreau’s life, philosophy, and legacy of civil disobedience.

AFTERNOON

Gather for lunch & local history at Cliff & Carey Cort’s home

Historian Rick Wiggin will join us, bringing Massachusetts’ Revolutionary War history to life with vivid stories of local events and the minutemen’s courage.

To conclude our time in Lincoln, the Lincoln Minutemen will honor us with a salute, providing a moving glimpse into the past. A reenactment group, representing Lincoln’s original minutemen from 1775, they are dedicated to preserving the history of the Revolutionary War through performances and education

In the late afternoon, we’ll return to Cambridge, where you’ll have free time to unwind or explore.

Enjoy an evening in Harvard Square on your own

Choose from an array of dining options in Harvard Square.

  • Pammy’s – A warm and inviting New American restaurant inspired by the charm of an Italian trattoria, where thoughtful dishes are paired with a cozy ambiance.

    Wusong Road – This vibrant American Chinese tiki bar, just steps from the Charles Hotel, serves creative cocktails and a colorful menu in a lively, tropical-inspired space.

    Oleana – A celebrated Mediterranean-inspired restaurant offering bold flavors and inventive dishes. Known for its cozy, intimate atmosphere and a lush outdoor garden, Oleana serves dishes crafted from locally-sourced ingredients and globally-inspired spices.

    Sarma – A lively spot with a creative, modern twist on Middle Eastern mezze. Sarma’s menu is full of shareable small plates that burst with flavor, from house-made dips to inventive takes on traditional dishes. The warm, eclectic ambiance makes it perfect for a group dinner.

After dinner, Cambridge’s nightlife awaits:

    • live jazz at the Regatta Jazz Bar

    • folk and acoustic performances at the legendary Club Passim

    • bold, genre-defying show at the American Repertory Theater.

Day 4: September 14

MORNING

A guided tour of Boston

Following breakfast on your own, we’ll enjoy a private, fully narrated trolley tour of Boston’s most famous sites.

This two-hour, fully narrated tour of the city covers over 100 points of interest and encompasses all the important historic sights and the major attractions, museums, and parks in Boston.

We will pick 2 - 3 stops to explore among the following: Boston’s historic waterfront, the New England Aquarium, the North End, The U.S.S. Constitution, the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum, Faneuil Hall and Marketplace, the New State House, Beacon Hill, the Back Bay, and the Old State House, where we’ll see a special exhibit marking the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolutionary War.

AFTERNOON

Lunch in the Seaport District & then explore along the waterfront

Enjoy lunch together at Row 34 in the Boston Seaport, a chic, industrial-style seafood restaurant known for its oysters, craft beers, and fresh New England fare.

Afterward, stretch your legs and explore on your own.

  • • Harbor Walk: 
A scenic waterfront path stretching along Boston’s harbor, offering breathtaking views, parks, and public art.

    • New England Aquarium
: A top-tier aquarium featuring an impressive central tank, interactive exhibits, and marine life from around the globe

    • Faneuil Hall Marketplace
: A historic marketplace and meeting hall, now a vibrant center of shops, street performances, and cultural landmarks.

    • The Institute of Contemporary Art: 
A waterfront museum featuring cutting-edge contemporary art exhibitions and performances in a stunning modern building

    • North End: A historic, Italian-American neighborhood famous for its narrow streets, authentic eateries, and rich colonial history.

We’ll reconvene and travel together back to Cambridge, where you’ll have a break before our final gathering.

EVENING

Gala farewell

Our dinner will be at Harvest, a beloved Harvard Square institution.

This celebratory evening will feature a farewell serenade by The Harvard Krokodiloes, Harvard’s premier all-male a cappella group, known for their polished harmonies and performances around the world.

As the night concludes, we mark the end of OPM29’s 25th reunion. For those continuing on to the optional Nantucket extension, more adventures await. For others, farewell until next time—grateful for the friendships and memories rekindled here at Harvard Square.
